IES Case Study

International Education Services is a unit within the Department for Education & Child Development that provide dedicated support and management of all international programs in South Australian government schools, looking after international students, homestay families, visitors, and agents.

The Technology
To install and setup the latest version of WordPress & Plugins. The revised site is mobile friendly, accessible and adheres to SA Government standards. It’s structure improves user experience and searchability, using the latest CSS / XHTML technology to ensure its compliance with all browsers.

The Challenge
This site had aged, the design was outdated and no longer fit for purpose and the underlying technology needed to be upgraded. The website was not mobile friendly, with many elements not appearing correctly when accessed via mobile device. An extensive audit was undertaken assess the requirements and progress for the migration of the data. The design of the website and the user experience was recreated on the upgraded site, and it is the underlying technology, security, management of the content and compliance that were most impacted by the work.

The Strategy
The work included creating a new fresh WordPress installation on the latest version of PHP and MySQL and then resetting up the required multiple language functionality  and content of the old IES website across. A new fresh design was designed and implemented to ensure the website was easier to navigate and responsive. The upgraded site allowed us to remove and replace any plugins not required (previously 56 plugins in total), utilise the latest libraries, technology, coding techniques, styles sheets and have only the latest plugins required to ensure it secure and compliant with the latest government, accessibility and browser standards.
